*  Void - A three-suited hand.

*** THE STAYMAN CONVENTION:

When playing notrump, having the Golden Fit of 8 or more cards (majors) in the two combined hands, it is usually best to play in the suit trump.   Therefore, after an opening of 1NT, responder job is to find a major suit fit.

The Stayman Convention uses a response of 2C (an artificial bid) to find that fit.
2C is used to ask opener for a 4-card or longer major suit.

With no 4-card major suit, opener makes the conventional rebid of 2D (diamonds).
After the 2D responder by opener, responder rebids 2NT.

**** THE JACOBY TRANSFER:

Playing Jacoby Transfers, responder bids at the 2 level.
Jacoby transfers deals with Hearts and Spades.
The Jacoby transfer bidder must have a 5-card suit.

2D (diamonds) transfers to hearts.
2H (hearts)       transfers to spades.
